INTRO
Lacrosse is one of the oldest collegiate sports and it still very popular today particularly in the North East (New York, New England, Pennsylvania, and Maryland) and Midwest states of the USA although its popularity is steadily growing across the country. Nearly 30,000 players are playing collegiate lacrosse each year and it is one of the fastest growing collegiate sports in the US. Perhaps the best way for international players to get engaged the US collegiate lacrosse is to start at the Junior college level (first 2 years of college) where coaches have as many as 20 scholarships to be divided among the players, 8 more as in the NCAA division 1 schools and 10 more than in NCAA division 2 schools. Then transfer to NCAA school for the remaining 2 years. With total of 468 schools offering men’s lacrosse and 593 schools offering women’s lacrosse, there are plenty of opportunities to find suitable school and scholarship.
